Injured Birds

Injured Mute Swan

I’ve noticed this character recently, ranging from by the Gordano Gate to this morning’s location almost at Portishead Pill. The wing looks bad. It’s highly likely the bird can’t fly but it’s been managing on that stretch for weeks.

The first question is: should one do anything? Then, what? None of the local birding websites has a link to any injured wildlife organisation. It’s remiss of me not to and when I’ve researched it, I’ll fix that. (I’ve been making space on my front page.)

The rest of the morning’s walk took me to Battery Point, where I hoped the high tide would push purple sandpipers. No such luck. Despite its being Monday a couple of fishermen ruined the spot. Two fishermen and their dog, just to totally fuck the planet up.
