Port Marine Pipits

Rock Pipit, N Berwick

Portishead’s speciality: the rock pipits that live on the foreshore and the new development round the dock. It’s almost impossible to walk from the marina control building to the pier and back along the west side of the dock without at least hearing one. Birds are likely even as far as MeMe Chocolat, right at the town end of things.

Today I encountered three. That’s par for the course. I also added swift to the Port Marine list and hence the car-free total, which now stands at 101. And I finally saw a wren, rather than just hearing it.

So, a brief Somerset interlude before I head up to the Midlands tomorrow. Shall I bother to try for dotterel at Bredon Hill again?
